Wow! great going - and so true that the slow and steady is best.
I shudder to see those awful ads promising super fast weight loss without any
work at all. Changing habits and adopting a new lifestyle are what works,
not a magic food or pill.
You're doing it - it must feel so great.
congratualtions!!

Kim, I'm so sorry you are having anxiety attacks! There isn't anything wrong with you. You seem to know that you are scared about starting or failing, and I think that is partly contributing to your feelings. I hope it gets better soon. YOU CAN DO THIS. Don't listen to that voice inside that thinks you will fail. There is someone else inside of you who deserves to be heard. Let her out!

It DOES get better after 3 days. The first 3 days are a trial for everyone, it seems. It takes 2 - 3 days to get into fat burning mode, and your body tries to fight it. It gives you headaches, it stirs up emotions, and it throws hunger at you to demand the calories you've been giving it. DON'T GIVE IN. Drink more water. Take a Tylenol. Walk around a bit. Do something that distracts you from thinking about the diet or food.

I had headaches for the first three days. Very annoying. I felt very tired the first day, then had a burst of energy on the second (despite the headache). I was really surprised by the headache versus energy on the 2nd and 3rd days. Once you body has accepted that you are ordering it to lose weight, it will abide. Give it a week. You will feel so much better, I promise.

Your body is also releasing toxins built up from the food you've had in the past. Just like a detox diet, it takes a few days to get past the headaches and icky feelings to get to the other side - feeling great. The great news is that you will see fantastic results during your first week. Just have patience (something that is REALLY hard for me, but I'm learning).

I'll write more about my struggles on the diet in the next few days, and I hope it helps you.

Thanks for talking with my coach! For anyone who is wondering, you can order Medifast products and receive a free weight loss coach by clicking on the Take Shape for Life link on the right. Wouldn't you rather be coached by someone who has lost 82 pounds and knows what she is talking about rather than someone who is just doing a job? Yeah, me, too!

I'm sorry if I sound like a commercial, folks, but I really feel fantastic and love my progress, so it shows in my enthusiasm. Real people succeed on this program. Pinch me, 'cuz I know I'm real.

Yay! Thanks!

Medifast is similar to NutriSystem in that they both have meals that they send to you. NS has you eating 5 x a day, Medifast has 6 x a day. NS focuses on lower calorie, while Medifast focuses on low calorie and high protein/low carb (without asking you to eat tons of meat and things that are loaded with cholesterol). You buy less extra food on MF than on NS. After cost comparisons, I felt that MF is cheaper than NS. Since we are on a tight budget, I wanted to get the best diet for my dollar. I like that MF was designed by a doctor. I've heard that the taste of MF is better than NS, but I can't confirm that myself. From what I've seen, NS might be better for those who need to lose less than 20 pounds, while MF is for the serious dieter who needs to lose 50 + pounds (argh, and I dread how I am in that category).

Lots of other comparisons can be made. I can tell you more, if ya like!
